When Elaine, Jim’s wife, catches her husband in a hotel room with his lover, her anger turns to shock as she discovers that Jim’s paramour is another man. This leads to painful soul-searching for Elaine, and as rumours of Jim’s conduct spread through the community the Marshall’s children have trouble dealing with the indignity and 17-year-old Jesse turns to criminal acts.

Jim knows he can never return to the husband he once was, but he also knows he must work to repair the damage he has inflicted on those he loves.
