Dancing in the Dark

A woman suffers abuse at the hands of her father-in-law but when she confides in her husband, he refuses to believe her. Convinced she is delusional, he forces her to undergo psychiatric treatment.

Shades of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest haunt this disturbing drama, in which Dallas star VICTORIA PRINCIPAL gives a moving performance as a woman who is twice the victim of abuse – first at the hands of her sexually predatory father-in-law, and then as a psychiatric patient.

It also features two Hollywood veterans: ROBERT VAUGHN (star of ‘60s classic TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and the BBC-TV smash-hit Hustle) and Hart to Hart’s ROBERT WAGNER (in an uncredited role).

Anna Forbes’ marriage to husband Mark (NICHOLAS CAMPBELL, Da Vinci’s Inquest) should be a happy one. He is a compassionate and supportive husband, but all this counts for nothing when Anna is raped by Dennis Forbes, her drunken, goatish father-in-law.

At first, she is too terrified to speak out, but when she does tell her husband and family what has happened, instead of sympathy she encounters vehement denial as they refuse to believe her accusations. Her troubles only worsen when a concerned Mark commits her to a psychiatric institution.

Mark is unaware of the institution’s brutal regime, and the incarcerated Anna must now fight not only for justice against Dennis but also for her sanity and freedom.

DANCING IN THE DARK also stars KENNETH WELSH (Twin Peaks) as Dr. Bell.
The script is by the award-winning writing team of JACQUELINE FEATHER and DAVID SEIDLER (By Dawn’s Early Light, Onassis: The Richest Man in the World) and the director is BILL CORCORAN (She Led Two Lives, Shattered Trust: The Shari Karney Story).
